Geoffrey De Smet resolved RCP-304.
----------------------------------
Assignee: Geoffrey De Smet
Resolution: Won't Fix
Fix Version/s: (was: 1.x)
No version
Resolved as won't fix as the exception handling system fixes this:
http://spring-rich-c.sourceforge.net/1.0.0/spring-richclient-manual/reference/html/exception-handling.html
> application exception handler for ApplicationDialog.onFinishException(Exception)

> It should be possible to set an exception handler for the onFinishException(Exception)-method for all ApplicationDialogs (maybe in the xml context). Currently an application with an own exception handler must overwrite every Dialog class to change the exception handling. For dialogs opened by the rich client e.g. the log-in dialog it isn't currently possible to change the exception handling.

Andreas Kuhtz commented on RCP-222:
-----------------------------------
The TransientPreferences has a problem. The getSpi() should return null if the value is not available in the preferences. This allows to specify a default value that will be used.
{code:title=TransientPreferences.java}
protected String getSpi(String key) {
if (values.containsKey(key)) {
return (String) values.get(key);
}
//return ""; --> return null here to get the default value!!!!!
return null;
}
{code}
The get() of AbstractReferences returns the default value if getSpi() returns null.
{code:title=AbstractPreferences.java}
public String get(String key, String def) {
if (key==null)
throw new NullPointerException("Null key");
synchronized(lock) {
if (removed)
throw new IllegalStateException("Node has been removed.");
String result = null;
try {
result = getSpi(key);
} catch (Exception e) {
// Ignoring exception causes default to be returned
}
return (result==null ? def : result);
}
}

I have some free time on my hands, and I did some changes today. I added a getView(String id) method to ApplicationPage for easier finding a View. I also plan to add a showView(String id, Object input) method as a first step towards editor support. A setInput method would be added to the View interface, with an empty implementation in AbstractView. Concrete implementations could then implement this method to update its state. Peter De Bruycker commented on RCP-565:
---------------------------------------
The behaviour is entirely logical:
The SplashScreen is complete decoupled from the application (to be able to load the splash as fast a possible).
It is possible the developer wants a different icon and name for the taskbar entry: for example "Loading application...".
The documentation should probably be updated to reflect this.

> During application startup the application entry in Windows' task bar is blank and shows the Java icon - I'd like it to show the application's name and icon. Of course it would be fine to be able to set these seperately from the main window.

Aaah, you are right. The "DateField" used by NachoCalendarDateFieldBinder is not a Spring RCP class...
Okay, so I suggest to create a new binder / modify the existing binders for better support for custom date formats...

Isn't this more an issue about the used third-party date components than the binder/binding?

Johannes Schneider commented on RCP-584:

Well, nothing is wrong with those date binders. The popups (for selecting the dates) work well. But I think the user should also have the possibility to enter the date manually - and not use the date selection popup.
This is way faster for experienced users...
