I've now committed my changes to JdbcTemplate, without this correction (Binder -> binder). Can you please do that, Isabelle? We appear to have two copies of MockConnectionFactory in CVS in diff packages. I'm out of time to look at it now, but I've just updated the one in jdbc.core (I hadn't noticed there were two). I think it would be best in the mock package, but it will need the changes I've made. Hello all, I've been monitoring this project since its inception and am very interested in making a contribution. I just completed my Web Component Developer certification (93%) on Tuesday and am now in the position to be able to devote a significant amount of time to the project. Although I have no commercial Java development experience, my experience as a professional product developer (hardware and software) is extensive, and my knowledge of Java and OOD in general is quite sound. In addition to some programming in C++ and Java, I have been using OOD techniques/patterns in non-OOD development languages and programming environments for more than 10 years in my work as a Control Systems Engineer. Information regarding my career history is available at my personal website, http://www.globaldialog.com/~kkrebs. I am very motivated as I need to gain real world experience and am willing to do whatever kind of work is needed. I have gained enough experience on my own to be quite comfortable working with Ant, JUnit, XML, webapps, design patterns, JDBC, Swing, and the Spring framework itself. Though I understand the basics, I am less comfortable at this time with EJB, CVS, transactions, and AOP. I believe the best way for me to participate initially probably would be to assist in the demo/tutorial. Regarding Validation : It seems to me that the validation portion of the framework is incorrectly packaged in the web jar. As Rod points out on page 497 of the book, "Validation should depend on business objects, rather than the web tier. This maximizes the potential to reuse validation code". I should think a developer working on a Swing client for instance would rather find it in the core jar. To Rod, Many thanks for your terrific book. My copy is already getting kind of beat up from all the reading and rereading. Eagerly :-) , Ken Krebs KK Technology Inc. 414 Hummingbird La. Hi Ken, I'd love to get some help on the tutorials, but Rod has the last word on that, he being the boss. I'm working on a website for the project right now, plus on the tutorials. Let's see what Rod says. Ken, Thanks for the offer. I think the tutorial and demo would be a great place to start. There's also a lot of stuff to be done codewise, so I hope you'll be able to continue to make an overall contribution.
