Hello,
I'd like to suggest to define an alternative value for
BeanFactory.FACTORY_BEAN_PREFIX as "&" is the XML entity prefix.
To use this prefix in a spring XML context it is required to setup something
like :
<property name="" ref="&ID" />
Doesn't look very nice.
Having a second prefix supported by spring XML-based applicationcontext
would make this cleaner.
Nico.

I agree that "&" is not that great a choice given XML as primary
configuration format, so I guess supporting an alternative marker for nicer
references in XML would be worthwhile.
Syntax suggestions? Other opinions?
Juergen

I agree. The ampersand (which Juergen didn't much like at the time back in early 2003) probably wasn't one of my better decisions :-) Juergen Hoeller wrote: > I agree that "&" is not that great a choice given XML as primary > configuration format, so I guess supporting an alternative marker for > nicer references in XML would be worthwhile. > > Syntax suggestions? I'd suggest to use '#' or '@' as an alternative, but any other char could do the job - ref="#myFactory" - ref="!myFactory" - ref="^myFactory" - ref="@myFactory" ... 2007/2/22, Rod Johnson <ro...@in...>: > > I agree. What about the C dereferencing symbol "->" Hmm, actually no. But at least I have set a very low base mark, now others might feel happier making suggestions ;) On 22/02/07, Juergen Hoeller <jue...@in...> wrote: > > I agree that "&" is not that great a choice given XML as primary > configuration format, so I guess supporting an alternative marker for nicer > references in XML would be worthwhile. > > Syntax suggestions? Why not a "*" symbol? ;-) On 2/22/07, Colin Yates <col...@gm...> wrote: > > What about the C dereferencing symbol "->" > > Hmm, actually no.
