Could you include setWrappedInstance(Object bean) in the =
PropertyAccessor
interface as well? I think it fits; it makes sense to me to be able to

James, This is a bug which is fixed in CVS head (post 1.0.2). 1.0.2 and earlier were indeed not caching classes, and I personally ran out of 'Perm' space in an app because of this, but the new code seems to work fine. I've run across a rules package in the Spring sandbox (org.springframework.rules) while working with spring-rcp (spring-rcp uses it for input validation), and was wondering if any thought has been given to integrating it with JSR-94? It is often unfeasable to keep some business logic isolated in a single tier (for example, some business logic ends up being in the UI for validation, some in the service layer, etc). However, it may be possible to avoid duplicating business logic and at least manage it from a central location. I've found that sometimes validation rules are duplicated elsewhere in the system (behind the service facade or in the DB, for example). What if I could keep rules in a central location (a rules DB or a set of XML files on the server), and then serve those rules to whoever needs them? For example, the UI asks for any rules against a particular object that it is editing so it can perform as-you-type validation, while the domain model behind the service facade might ask for the same rules to both validate and operate on data passed in from a client. This way, all my rules are centrally managed, never duplicated, and can be reused. I'm thinking of using such an approach in my next project and basing it off of JSR-94 - but I'd like to use spring and spring-rcp and since spring-rcp relies on org.springframework.rules, it would be nice if the rules package could integrate with JSR-94. I'm just brainstorming at the moment, so I could have missed something... Is this a bad idea? - Andy |

I have made the changes to the SqlParameters and SqlLobValue - the LobHandler
reference has been moved from SqlParameters to SqlLobValue.
Here is an example of how you would use it:
LobHandler lobHandler = new OracleLobHandler();
NativeJdbcExtractor jdbcExtractor = new WebLogicNativeJdbcExtractor();
lobHandler.setNativeJdbcExtractor(jdbcExtractor);
String sql = "insert into docs (doc_id, content) values(?, ?)";
SqlUpdate su = new SqlUpdate(ds, sql);
su.declareParameter(new SqlParameter("id", Types.INTEGER));
su.declareParameter(new SqlParameter("lob", Types.BLOB));
su.compile();
Object[] inval = new Object[2];
inval[0] = new Integer(newId);
File in = new File("some.doc");
InputStream is = new FileInputStream(in);
inval[1] = new SqlLobValue(is, (int) in.length(), lobHandler);
int count = su.update(inval);
is.close();
If you don't provide a LobHandler for the SqlLobValue, then a DefaultLobHandler
will automatically be created.

Since it does have the version number in it, and things are not=20 backwards compatible, I think in fact it does make sense to rename it. I=20 would however use cglib-2.0.2-dev.jar which seems to be a pretty common convention (with the Maven crowd,=20 among others) for stuff that is not final... Matthew E. The changes to the BeanWrapper are fine with me.
Furthermore, to allow for a different data structure backing an extended =
BeanWrapper, I had to do the following (patch included as an =
attachment).
- *protected* BeanWrapperImpl getBeanWrapperForPropertyPath(String =
propertyPath)
- *protected* List getBeanWrappersForPropertyPath(String propertyPath)
- introduced new method (protected setIntrospectionClass) called from =
setWrappedInstance in BeanWrapperImpl. In my extended bean wrapper I =
don't have a concrete wrapped instance, so object.getClass() does not =
work. The setIntrospectionClass method creates the introspectionResults =
instead of the setWrappedInstance method
- in toString() changed getWrappedObjectInstance().getClass().getName() =
to getWrappedClass().getName() (again because there is no concrete =
wrapped object)
So it's actually not all that much. Could you have a look at this?

I would have to say that I agree with all your points. I'll look into
changing this as soon as I can.
Thanks for ponting this out. As you said, there really is no need to
have the LobHandler available when the parameters are declared. As long
as we have it when we process the SqlLobValue, we will be fine.

just reworked them to use the new built-in LOB support, which works

Our classes extend the StoredProcedure class, and I've declared a
"lobHandler" property to be set in the application context, as the same

Hi Juergen ,=20 Just wanted to know if I can start using the new changes for Quartz. I just want to get the scheduler directory. Are there any other files (outside of scheduler) that I would need to get, in order to use the latest quartz changes ? Thanks Shishir=20 |
