Indeed - I've just changed them back to package access. For some reason, = IDEA didn't complain on make... odd. Juergen, "ServletWrappingController" sounds just fine to me. +1 Regards, Dmitriy. Following a suggestion in the follwing JIRA issue =20 http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/spring/browse/SPR-350 = <http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/spring/browse/SPR-350>=20 =20 I've implemented a ServletWrappingController that simply forwards to a = named servlet within Spring's dispatching infrastructure. All, I have been starting to think in more detail about the final feature set for Spring JMX going into the 1.2 release. In addition to what is already done, I want to add: 1. Support for XML config of management interface 2. Classes to automatically create and start vendor specific JMX adaptors like the HtmlAdaptorServer in the RI 3. FactoryBeans to create and optionally start JSR 160 server connections 4. FactoryBeans to create JSR 160 client connections 5. Proxy support for JSR 160 client connections Beyond this I am not sure what other features people want to see. If there is anything else you can think of then let me know so I can try to fit it in before 1.2. Rob |

IMO, the suggested solution introduces unnecessary complexity.
If the class isn't final, why not subclass it with something that is a
standard bean that knows how to translate standard bean settings to its
super?
If the class is final, a custom bean factory should do the trick.

Well, at a minimum the JavaDoc for HibernateTemplate where it says it's a programmatic alternative to HibernateInterceptor needs to be clarified to say that the interceptor will always bind a Session regardless of a current transaction, while the template will only do so while in a transaction. Personally, I also believe in doing all data-access within transactions, but there _are_ people who for certain scenarios prefer not to have a transaction. I seem to remember Gavin being against non-transactional access, but Hibernate does work fine that way, and it's certainly a valid mode in JDO, etc. With regards to nested HibernateTemplate calls, it's not as unlikely as it may seem, since code may call other code, and people are using HibernateTemplate for exception wrapping and convenience methods, not just Session management. In the forum thread I mentioned, somebody was complaining (that in a non-transactional situation) they were doing a HibernateTemplate.load() call, and the retuned object itself was unusable as it was a proxy (not a lazy relationship, but the actual object returned). In this case, he's got no programmatic method ensure that a series of contained HibernateTemplate calls are handled withing one thread-bound Session. For my preferred style (always using transactions), there's obviously no issue, but I do think if the HibernateTemple is about resource management (part of it anyways), and that resource (the Session) works outside of a transaction, then it's not very logical to restrict the management (or at least the thread-binding portion) to only happen within a transaction... And probably the same for JDO, etc. Colin jürgen höller [werk3AT] wrote: >Well, HibernateInterceptor is an AOP Interceptor: Its very point is to bind a Hibernate Session to the thread. Well, HibernateInterceptor is an AOP Interceptor: Its very point is to = bind a Hibernate Session to the thread. In other words, it would be = completely pointless to not bind a Session there, because the = interceptor wouldn't to anything then. HibernateTemplate on the other hand is supposed to execute a given = HibernateCallback, respectively the internal callbacks for the shortcut = methods - nothing else. It is not necessary to bind a Session to the = thread for this, therefore HibernateTemplate doesn't do so. Nested HibernateTemplate calls would be somewhat strange anyway: A = HibernateCallback that in turn delegates to some other class that in = turn uses HibernateTemplate again? I don't think that this is really = common. Do you have a concrete use case for this? Note that JdoTemplate, JdbcTemplate, etc all behave the same in that = respect: None of those binds anything to the thread for the duration of = its execute methods. Just the special interceptors for Hibernate and JDO = do so, mainly for use with JtaTransactionManager. In total, I'd like to keep the current behavior. Remember that you're = supposed to perform all data access within transactions anyway, so all = that talk about non-transactional Sessions is nonsense and useless = noise. Juergen, I was poking around in the HibernateInterceptor and HibernateTemplate code following a forum post, and unless I'm missing something, HibernateInterceptor (correctly) binds the new Session that is created to the current thread even if there is no transaction already existing to synchronize to, but on the other hand, on the execute() call HibernateTemplate will only bind the Session to the thread if transaction synchronization is active. Am I missing something? If this is correct, this does not seem appropriate to me, as HibernateTemplate should be (and is listed in the JavaDocs) as the programattic equivalent of HibernateInterceptor, and nested HibernateTemplate calls should utilize a thread-bound session put there by the outermost one, regardless of transaction settings, not create a new Session. And while we're at it, (unfortunately I'm not volunteering just yet), it would be nice to develop a set of interfaces in org.springframework.cache that can be implemented by other systems: ehcache, oscache, JCS. JSR 107 spells out what the interface would look like pretty clearly (http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/cacheFS.pdf), but there are no standard implementations of this. Every implementation of the caching system seems to support it loosely, with common methods, but there is not a common interface, so users are always tied to one particular caching product. Spring has provided this kind of common interface for a number of other areas, and caching would be great to add to it. The jcache (jcache.sourceforge.net) project seems to stay closest to the original JSR. -----Original Message----- From: spr...@li... Someone on the forum put forward a requirement for setting multiple
arguments in a single method for legacy code. Method args. could be
specified in a similar way to constructor args. While this is a move away
from Beans, it's not a move away from IoC, POJOs or OO. What do others
think?
class SomeClass
{
public void setNamedValue(String name, Object value) {...};
public Object getNamedValue(String name) {...};
}

I have got a really small example. Let me tidy it up, rename the classes etc and I will post it. Dmitriy,
This looks awesome to me - put it in the core! +1!=20
I can feel a cachingSubsystemContext.xml coming on :)

Thanks for spotting this! The problem is that Spring's JmsException is =
an abstract base class, not to be thrown directly, but the standard =
JMSException is not, i.e. it can be thrown directly. I've added a check =
to convert plain JMSException to Spring's UncategorizedJmsException =
without trying to load a counterpart class.

Betreff: [Springframework-developer] javax.jms.JMSException processing
Hi Guys,
I was testing some of the JMS send functionality using IBM-MQ as the =
provider,
and noticed a bug in
org.springframework.jms.support.JmsUtils.convertJmsAccessException()
The bug is that if the exception parameter ex is exactly a
javax.jms.JMSException, the JMSUtils class tries to instantiate an
org.springframework.jms.JMSException (note: incorrect case of JMS in the =
spring
class)
This method needs to treat the base javax.jms.JMSException as a special =
case.
You can use code something like this: (sorry it's not tested and not a =
patch
format - development machines at my work don't have 'net access, but I'm =
sure
you'll get the idea) Insert this code after the JMSSecurityException =
check:
if (javax.jms.JMSException.class =3D=3D ex.getClass()) {
return new JmsException(ex);
}
Kind regards,
Nick Airey

Yes a uasge example would be helpful. Now that I'm back from my trip I was able to spend a bit of time and add a mod to the phpBB install so that registering as a new user on the forums requires people to copy a confirmation code that is randomly generated as an image on each attempt. Unfortuantely this will make it harder for disabled users (with screen readers and the like) to register on the system, but as we have some sort of porn spam bot creating new users (with porn urls in their profile), there was no real alternative... |
