Spieluhr's Latest Update

I have been so busy at work lately that I have not been able to put much time into Spieluhr. A lot less has gone into this update than I had wished, and I have been holding off until more features were added. However, it's been a while, so I here's what I've done so far. Primarily I have added a Pause button and made the program more keyboard friendly. There are now shortcuts for most things, and Copying, Pasting, Deleting (and similar functions) can be done with standard keyboard shortcuts like Alt-C, Alt-V and the Delete key. I have also optimised some aspects of the source code. I hope to be able to add some new features soon, such as support for ID3v2.... read more

New MP3 Jukebox Released!

Spieluhr.NET (Spieluhr being the German word for Music Box) is a new MP3 Jukebox. Why does the world need yet another Jukebox? I had two key motivations for writing Spieluhr. I have been to parties where the host has hired a Jukebox, and quite often there are those annoying individuals who take it upon themselves to be the supreme judges of good taste. They skip other people's selections, or add their own favourite songs several times in a row to play over and over. Spieluhr has settings which can restrict user actions, preventing them from using the Skip button, or adding songs twice or more times consecutively. The second key motivation was that I have a very large collection of MP3s, as do so many people these days. Most MP3 players randomly select songs from your entire collection, and each song has an equal chance of being selected. As I add songs to my collection, I want to hear them more frequently, and those songs I'm tiring of I want to hear less frequently. With Spieluhr, you can allocate songs into categories, and set priorities to the categories so that they are chosen more or less frequently during random play. For example, your play list can randomly choose your new songs 50% of the time, play rock 30% of the time, ballads 10% of the time, and the rest of your collection the remaining 10% of the time. You can even disable categories so that you only hear songs in that category when you explicitly select them.... read more
