Okay, so I know we've pretty much faltered and fell apart over the past few months, but I feel that it's mostly due to the fact of communication.
Just to touch on what I've been up to - I made a decision to go with the Unity platform due to it's extremely simple user interface, and the fact that you can build off of pre-made demos. Another Engine that I found to be maybe even easier to use is Hero Engine, although it's $99 a year, you can literally have multiple people editing a scene/project/level all at once since they host the server, which would make working as a team as simple as it can possibly be. If we're going to nay-say the paid engine, then Unity is the best free option out there (In my opinion).
Another simple idea to add a unique touch to this game would be using an app (Droid or iOS) to sort of track resources/construction/farming/war stats/etc. the amount of smart phone & tablet users is quickly growing, so it would be like having your game on one screen while being able to step out of the room and still be able to follow some lengthy processes no matter where in the world you are. For instance, if your farm crops are ready to be harvested (Crops being wasted if not harvested in time) you would see that notification within the app, and be able to log in and cycle the action.
I like the gameplay and NPC interaction from "The Guild 2" and will probably be borrowing some concepts from them. Let me know where you guys stand on being part of the team, I've put a good amount of hours into getting all of the ideas and what not onto a simple viewable and editable file that I'll be able to upload here.
