Spicecollab Sandbox / Blog: Recent posts

First

Hi guys, and welcome to the first Spicecollab blogpost. I'm b0b, one of the developers for the project, and this is just a quick status update on the project so far.
If you've been following the discussion on Sourceforge as well as in the Spiceworks post linked on the Wiki, you'd have seen that we've tentatively decided on a theme as well as some of the features and ideals for the game. The game engine and some core features are still being decided upon, but for now I've done some trial runs in XNA and Cryengine 2 doing procedural and heightmap terrain generation. So far things look quite good and I'm happy with the early output.
Next up for me is going to be working on the camera modes and terrain to model collision detection, which I've been doing a lot of research on before actually starting any code. It's through this that I noticed that I currently have 53 tabs in Chrome open on the subject and my PC is in dire need of a restart, so out goes the idea of actually getting any work done. Time for some bookmark sorting instead.
I hope to have the first demo of the engine I'm working on out some time today or tomorrow - I'll post it in the file repository as soon as it's stable so the other guys can play with it and give me some feedback.
Anyway, back to sorting bookmarks! And I really need to stop smoking...
