we talked about this in irc.
in standard 32 white images becomes balckish when
image.createsurface is used. Standard 16 may or may not
do this to a much lesser extent. I can't test with
OpenGL or directX...
to test this, just run the game in a few different
video modes.

I don't understand this test game! Could you describe what
should happen and what does happen?
I don't see any difference when playing the test game in any
of the video drivers.
