hello again
just to add to my earlier post today on the installation of my
speedtouch 330 modem
on restarting the pc the only way to get online with the 330
is to open a console, use su to go to /root and then
cd speedtouchconf-10-Nov-2004
to move directory and then run ./speedtouchconf.sh
to rerun the script.
I checked chkconfig and found no entry for the speedtouch
so did chkconfig speedtouch on , which did make an entry in the
list (checked by typing chkconfig ) as speedtouch on
but made no difference to the modem state
so i then did the above restart of the instal script
I also noticed on start up that the system reported a fatal error
as unable to find usb_ohci and aborted that process
I have searched the suse 9.2 cd`s using yast to add usb_ohci
but cannot find this module.
sorry about this
best rgards peter maker
ps did bookmark earlier page as requested but cannot find it
in bookmarks. Im thinking that the last post was sent as /root
user so maybe i need to log back in as such ?

Hi, installing suse pro 9.2 also and an into the very same
problem though I do not get the "no usb_ohci". I can get
on the air with the install script but I can't do it
automatically.
Also kinternet says (as it does without the speedtouchconf
script!):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.50 on linux.
Status is: disconnected
trying to connect to smpppd
connect to smpppd

pppd[0]: Failed to open 8.35: No such device

pppd[0] died: Serial port open failed (exit code 7)

... so looking for a way to automatize that ...
Best,
and many thanks for your work !!
