Version 1.3 modem_run program exits before loading the
Speedtouch 330 USB modem firmware (ver. 3012) while
1.2b works ok.
1.3 worked for some time, but after several days few
seconds strange connection-loss on network ethernet
card occured (like it would be power-loss on usb and
network card) and modem_run refused to work anymore.
Recompilation of software ver 1.3 doesn't help but
using modem_run 1.2 (from speed bundle 1.0) does.

Same thing happens with 1.3.1 version from CVS - modem_run
exits immediately without a single message while ver 1.2 is
doing it's job.
Does anyone else experience such problems?

I have the same problem. I used the classic "trial and error" and ended up
using version 1.2-based cvs (2004.02.21), which I luckily backed up
before trying the new one :)
Some sites, such as LoveFilm.com don't work, although I don't know if
that's the firmware fault, modem_run's, pppoa* or what. I upgraded
because the old version did not connect ("fail to connect") to lovefilm.com,
while that works from windows using the same firmware (I copied the files
from my Windows driver installation to Linux and I'm using those (CRC:
0x0223733c, Size:775509, Checked: Yes, 1.0.10 - Win32 Rev 0400
SACHU3).

Same on my system. Modem_run version 1.3.1, had worked for a
while, but today it stop. If the modem is already plugged
durign boot, there are some messages: "Cannot initialize the
modem." (message from /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtouch); there's
no way to make it work either if I call modem_run from
command line. It exit whitout any other message in syslog
other "Dec 23 12:30:15 localhost modem_run[2644]: modem_run
version 1.3.1 started by root uid 0". The only solution is
to boot without modem plugged, and plug in later. That way,
modem_run 1.3.1 work perfectly. I don't know why... if you
have some suggestion on where to look, I'll do it.

Same for 1.3.1. I installed deb package on a sarge and the
modem_run exits without any action.
Using old 1.1 version worked fine for years.

This happens to me too when adsl line hang up. Once I could
reload firmware and go ahead, now I have to reboot the pc.
