I tried making a test Linux build (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34518077/NewMcf_b1828_20120815T103015.mcf) but need someone to check it out. I think there is (still) an issue with ensuring the required libraries are included and that the paths are correct. Ideally someone with some Desura experience would be prefered... As for the Windows packages, they are doing well. To date we have 951 installs of SD2.0 downloaded and what appears to be very little un- installs. We should focus some marketing effort for SD2.1 (or SD3.0). -- Ticket URL: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/624#comment:5> Speed Dreams <http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams> An Open Motor-sport Simulator featuring high-quality 3D graphics and an accurate physics engine, all targeting maximum realism as well as exciting new features, cars, tracks and AI opponents to make a more enjoyable game for the player. |

The problem is that I'm not really following on how we include system libraries, or whether the Desura system will automatically force your local machine to get them through the system repo. Looking at StuntRally package, they appear to include them. So I just copied them into the mcf (my system is Xubuntu 13.04). Not sure if others can see these, but they are... The resultant directory was made into a '.mcf' and uploaded ([http://www.desura.com/app/need?action=desura%3A%2F%2Ftest%2Fgames %2Fspeed-dreams%2F7747%2F1]). This appears to work on a 32bit machine (which already had system libs install), but not in a 64bit LiveCD enviroment. It gave the attached error, but pack it supposed to support both 32 and 64bit by autoselecting different binaries. Note that this just fakes out Desura, they aren't really used. {{{ $ sudo apt-get install libc6-i386 }}} But then you need the rest of the (correct bit size) system dependancies {{{ $ sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian libopenal1 libplib1 libopenal1 libplib1 libenet2a libjpeg62 }}} We need to figure out including these, or getting Desura to manage their installation. -- Ticket URL: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/624#comment:9> Speed Dreams <http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams> An Open Motor-sport Simulator featuring high-quality 3D graphics and an accurate physics engine, all targeting maximum realism as well as exciting new features, cars, tracks and AI opponents to make a more enjoyable game for the player. |

This way I get a directory like this -- games/ <- 32bit bins games64/ <- 64bit bins lib/ <- 32bit libs lib64/ <- 64bit libs share/ <- everything else speed-dreams <- start up script which automatically selects the right binary at run time -- One thing I do note is if I run 'ldd' on the binaries they list the 'original' location, and more importantly the 'libtfg' is not handled by the '-ld' flag. If this library is not found SD can not run at all. I saw some comment that the shared libraries can be given a relative path, rather than an absolute one. This might make SD relocatable within the filesystem. -- Ticket URL: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/624#comment:11> Speed Dreams <http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams> An Open Motor-sport Simulator featuring high-quality 3D graphics and an accurate physics engine, all targeting maximum realism as well as exciting new features, cars, tracks and AI opponents to make a more enjoyable game for the player. |

There are a number of CMake RPATH directives, but I couldn't get any of these to work... so my solution is a bit of a hack. At present the 'embedded rpath' reports as -- $ objdump -x games/speed-dreams-2 | grep RPATH RPATH /home/simon/speed-dreams-git/lib/games/speed- dreams-2/lib: -- After the attached patch, it reports as -- $ objdump -x games/speed-dreams-2 | grep RPATH RPATH $ORIGIN/../lib/games/speed-dreams-2/lib:/home/simon /speed-dreams-git/lib/games/speed-dreams-2/lib: -- And the binary still works even when the root directory is moved to anther location (like when it's installed via desura). -- Ticket URL: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/624#comment:12> Speed Dreams <http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams> An Open Motor-sport Simulator featuring high-quality 3D graphics and an accurate physics engine, all targeting maximum realism as well as exciting new features, cars, tracks and AI opponents to make a more enjoyable game for the player. |
