But, but, we need a developer platform not an end user platform (which is the website) and sourceForge is not!! developer/ newbie friendly for git version control. First thing is the UI, sourceforge is outdated and not intuitive. SF has not necessary third party links or ads on their site, nobody want to load tons of them. SF is not an code/ developer management tool. It has not much possibilites as Github or Gitlab, as far as i see. Much more people already use Gitlab/ Github. Dont forget people from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria cannot use sourceforge. On the other hand you had to leave sourceforge and the (some) current devs had to learn something new. Github itself is not opensource, but Gitlab is. Some links: http://sparkledge.com/bitbucket-vs-github-vs-sourceforge-vs-beanstalk/ -> good site to see advantages of Github or Bitbucket. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_source_code_hosting_facilities Ps. I use github and gitlab daily, so i can be affected. My english sucks. I will try to create scripts for migrating to git. And like you said the platform is another thing then. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hi Leopjing, all, There are two different issues here: One: change from subversion to git. Two: move from Sourceforge to GitHub. There has been discussion before, and if IRCC, most people are OK with One. History and Large binary files being question marks. As to Two, in my opinion, SourceForge is a better host than GitHub. I find SF much more end user friendly.
