#464: Ingame content manager --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- Reporter: ocirne94 | Owner: somebody Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: to be defined Component: User interface | Version: 2.0.0-dev Keywords: ingame content manager updater | --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- From Ocirne, https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=28198905: With an ingame content manager it would be more confortable and quicker to get new/updated cars and tracks and textures directly inside the game. Moreover, thinking to new/unskilled end-users, this can be a user-friendly way to let them have the latest content created by our gfx masters. This would be particularly important as 1.4.0 release (i.e. the content used by most ens-users) is 18-months old at present and doesn't reflect at all the latest development. It can also be a good way to show some activity, to remind users that the team is still actively developing for them. From Jean-Philippe, https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=28203030: Would need : * some work to implement the in-game menu, and the download and contents management system, * some work on the server side (which technical solution : svn-based? home made? ... not that easy ...) * and last but not least, organize a kind of continuous release team (I mean : real people ;-) for testing eligible contents as soon as it comes, evaluates / check compatibility with the target SD version, and upload it to the update repository, whatever. -- Ticket URL: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/464> Speed Dreams <http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams> An Open Motorsport Simulator forked from Torcs in order to deliver a better user experience through nicer and more consistent car sets, visually improved tracks and enhanced physics realism. |
