Hi Simon,

I can't tested any patch because I moved home and FAI 'Orange' screwed up in my request, so for the moment I've not Internet connection.

For SDL2 integration in trunk, not before Release or if your patch can buil SDL or SDL2 and that we deliver Release with SDL1.2

By now everybody knows that SDL2 released, but you may not know that it's
also in the next version of Ubuntu...

I revisited the patch on trac* last week and it basically works, of course
it has some problems:
* Screen size/mode selection needs attention.
* Fullscreen fails to work properly (at least on my 'peculiar' 3 monitor
setup, OK on my wife's latop).
* SDL joystick initialisation problem. Only works after selecting other
window and coming back to SD.

I'll push a new patch up by the end of the week with a few fixes, and
would be interested if it breaks the existing build for SDL on Windows. If
it's OK do we merge into the main repo?

The main benefit to moving to SDL2 is the ability to code force feedback
on controllers. Patch will include the very basic start of that.

Looking forward we can drop the dependancy on plib for joystick input, but
plib is still needed for 3D scene stuff until OSG port is complete.
