I was pointed by Intel support to the Symbol Spectrum24 Linux driver, to try and get my card to work under Linux. They have not yet released their reference driver. With that said, I have compiled the spectrum24_cs.o file, and was trying to setup the file /etc/pcmcia/intel.conf as follows: device "spectrum24_cs" class "network" module "spectrum24_cs" card "Intel PRO/Wireless 2011 LAN PC Card" version "Intel", "*", "2011" manfid 0x0089, 0x0001 bind "spectrum24_cs" I assumed that I did not have to add these lines to /etc/pcmcia/config, because of the entries: # Include configuration files for add-on drivers source ./*.conf However I don't think I have the syntax right because I get the following error in syslog: Dec 8 21:00:09 laptop cardmgr[4457]: initializing socket 1 Dec 8 21:00:09 laptop cardmgr[4457]: unsupported card in socket 1 Dec 8 21:00:09 laptop cardmgr[4457]: product info: "Intel", "PRO/Wireless 2011 LAN PC Card", "1.00" I know that I may be dreaming to think that I can get this to work, but Intel said "For your immediate need there is a GPL driver at Sourceforge* that should work for this NIC will little to no modification." I appologize if this is the wrong list to post to, but it was the only address listed in the README file for the spectrum driver. Please responde to my email address, because I am not subscribed to this mailing list. Thanks in advance, Rois Cordova |
