The main reason is SOLAPLayers 2.0 is a complete rewriting/re-engineering of the proof of concept that was version 1.0. We are presently investing a lot of development efforts on this project in order to produce a clean, robust and evolutive architecture and some interesting and powerful capabilities for the spatialisation of datasources. The server part is well advanced and we are currently able to mix different data sources (files, services, databases, olap, ...). All is defined in a XML file with an intuitive, logic and powerfull syntax. The client side is progressing well also and we are considering if we will do the move to ExtJS 4 right now or later. In addition to what is illustrated in the new architecture schema provided in the presentation, we are at present working on the possibility to support several export formats and not only OLAPJSON for rendering on the client side. Image and KML formats are the output formats we are working on. So, as you can see, the project is still alive and we are targeting to release this powerful version 2.0 in September just in time for the FOSS4G 2011 conference, which will hold in Denver this year. Hope it helps, Cheers. Th. -- Thierry Badard, Ph.D. Spatialytics inc., CTO Genuine Geospatial Business Intelligence http://www.spatialytics.com |

Hello Spatialytics-users, on the slides of the FOSS4G 2010 presentation (http://www.spatialytics.org/geomondrian/foss4g-2010-presentation-now-online -%E2%80%93-open-source-geobi-in-action-with-geomondrian-and-solaplayers/) there is a hint to the new version of SOLAPLayers 2.0 (slide 37): ". Beta of version 2.0 to be released by the end of October 2010 We anticipate to have a first stable version in January 2011 ." Are there any current information, when the new version will be available (or it is already available)? Many thanks for any information, best regards, Michael |
