Satellite Power Analysis Tool (SPAT)

After several years using MATLAB and developing MATLAB libraries for space applications I decided to put all together into a single tool with a GUI that could be used in a simpler and more convenient way. SPAT is the result of it.

The original thought was creating a tool to aid during the Satellite Power System design process, but, with time I added more and more features to the tool and, now it is rather a System Design tool than just a Power design tool.

After the mission and certain satellite parameters are defined, the tool will output:

Power profile
Battery charge/discharge profile
Link budget
Ground track coverage
Ground station visibility

SPAT has been developed under MATLAB and it's distributed as an standalone executable for Windows and MacOS.
MATLAB Runtime (MCR), which is free, is hence needed to execute the tool properly.

Installation

download MATLAB Runtime for your for your OS from MATLAB website.
Install MCR
Download SPAT.
MacOS
- SPAT is distributed as DMG. Just mount the DMG and copy/move SPAT.app under Applications folder
Windows
- SPAT is distributed as .EXE. Just place the executable in the desired folder
