NB: AN EXTREMELY LARGE AND IMPORTANT MESSAGE
-----------------------------------------------
READ THE DISCLAIMER!!
This is a PRE ALPHA ENGINE test, meant only to help us find out
what kind of hardware this software will be used on, how it will
work, and what sort of issues there are related with performance
and portability.
PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING MORE THAN A QUICK BLAST before the
game crashes or does something weird.
We really appreciate all feedback from this engine test, you can reach us
on
Sam - sam@spacething.org (Network Code and Graphics)
Shaun - shaun@spacething.org (All other stuff)
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US SAYING "THIS IS REALLY SHIT, I LIKE QUAKE 3". We
want only constructive criticism, and problem reports.
PLEASE CHECK THE WEBPAGE FOR UPDATES
--------------------------------------------
REQUIREMENTS
--------------------------------------------
LINUX:
You will need an OpenGL lib (Mesa), and an fast Intel Pentium
processor, or compatible (eg. AMD etc. However SpaceThing MAKES NO USE
OF 3DNOW! :) ).
You will need PLIB, and ACE, and accelerated OGL.
You will need GLUT for linux also.
These are all standard OpenGL options under Linux
Windows:
exactly the same :)
GL/GLUT:
MESA: http://www.mesa3d.org
GLUT: http://reality.sgi.com/mjk_asd/glut3/glut3.html
--------------------------
OK, I WANNA STILL TRY IT!!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Thankyou for helping to try out the prealpha engine test of Spacething.
Spacething
----------
Spacething is divided into two parts, a server and client programs
The SpaceThing server however can act as an interactive client, this
reduces the bandwidth, CPU load, and requirement for a networked computer.
GAME CONTROLS
-------------
Client controls are quite simple
Single Mouse Click - Enables/disables mouse flight
control
Mouse Movement - Allows user to fly the ship when
mouse control is active
A and Z - Increase and decrease your speed
SPACE - Launch Missile
X - Drop Mine
Q and E - Roll your ship left and right
C - (C) Comedy Instant Handbrake
I SUGGEST TURNING OFF 1-3 (Planets and floor) on the software
editions
ESC - Quit
