Thanks so much Rob. Everything is working now as intended. I just had to add a pointer to files[0] to the sox_globals_t structure. Of course I would have preferred to find a solution that is more in line with the original intention of the sox architecture. On the other hand I am glad it works and so far I don't think I have broken any other functionality.
