Oh, eep, I'm sorry Tibi. I 1) hadn't realized there was a forum and 2) never got the nntp server functioning correctly. My apologies, I'll go check now. > Yeah, it's kinda weird how we get these revival emails and nothin comes of > it. :( Sucks. > Nothing comes of it?! :O I've posted some tasks on the forums since octomber ( which can be used directly on the site or through nntps ) and I still did not get any reply, even if I had announced you on the list few times! ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Sowar-devel mailing list Sow...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/sowar-devel |

>Microsoft Outlook Newsreader. > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/kb/articles/q182/1/67.asp Configuring the Outlook Express Newsreader Configure Outlook Express to receive messages from newsgoups by following these steps: 1.On the Outlook Express Tools menu, click Accounts. On the News tab, click Add and then News. 2. In the Internet Connection Wizard, type a Display Name for the News account. This name represents your identity in the newsgroups. Click Next 3. In E-mail Address, type your e-mail address. Click Next. 4. In News (NNTP) Server, type the name of the news server supplied to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This is usually in a format similar to "News.domain.net." If your news server requires you to log on, click to select (place a checkmark in) the "My news server requires me to log on" check box. Click Next. you have to type news server: nntp.sourceforge.net check "My news server requires me to log on" account name and password: your sourceforge id and password leave SPA checkbox unchecked ( if you have one ) 5. In Friendly Name, enter a Display Name for the account. A display name identifies your subscribed newsgroups in the Folder List and is not a part of the server configuration. Click Next. 6. In Choose Connection Type, click to select the type of connection you wish to use when viewing newsgroups. If you have previously configured a Dial-Up Networking connection for Mail in Outlook, click Connect Using My Phone Line. Click Next. 7. Click the name for your Dial-Up Networking connection in the list, and then click Next. Click Finish to complete the configuration. After this, you must click with the right button on the account created and choose properties. In Advanced tab check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" Server Port Number should automaticly change from 119 to 563. Press the Newsgroups button ( or if there is a message prompt "would you like to subscribe" or something like this choose "Yes" ). Wait until the list of newgroups is downloaded and then type in the filter "sf.s.so.sowar". You should see our newsgroups: - art - devel_mapengine_boxengine - devel_mapengine_height - devel_pathfind - developers - doc - help - open_discussion - website I think name are sugestive for what kind of discussion should be used. After you subscribe to them, for each newsgroup choose what type of synchronization you want. And then click "Synchronize Account". You should see the messages that I've posted. Replying/posting a message is like replying/sending a mail. Did it work? Or from what step does it fail? |
