I would like to ask you which minutiae extractor algorithm you have used (or you have based on) on your software.
Generally, there are 2 main approaches, the one proposed by A. K. Jain, and the one proposed by Maio&Maltoni. Have you based your work on any of them?
SourceAFIS detects minutiae as endings on the skeleton. It does the same on inverted skeleton to detect bifurcations. That would mean A. K. Jain's approach. Extractor is heavily inspired by NBIS MINDTCT algorithm. I am considering ridge gliding (i.e. Maio and Maltoni approach) for future development.

Contribution of algorithm enhancements is definitely welcome. SourceAFIS includes benchmarking tool (DatabaseAnalyzer) that allows accuracy comparison between two algorithms. It would be interesting to see how the Maio approach performs even if the underlying code cannot be shared.
