#2 cvs version fails to build on FreeBSD

On OSX it builds, but the linker warns about the same
thing.

On FreeBSD:
cc -O -pipe -c utils.c
utils.c:521: conflicting types for `hstrerror'
/usr/include/netdb.h:232: previous declaration of
`hstrerror'

I will tend to it and submit a diff soon.
