Hi, Glad to see the progress. Setting the TransformerFactory is tough. The error with iGallery is from the sonomaApps module. I usually had the classes to another .jar file and drop then in a /lib directory. I wouldn't sweat over it right now. It could end up being a seperate project in itself. There are actually a couple more directories that need to be created. Crous is working on a block to edit the portal.xml file and someone is working on the login.xml file. Once these get started, maybe coming back to igallery would make more sense. Thanks, Roy ----- Original Message ----- From: Sebu Thomas K To: Roy Hoobler Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 2:05 PM Subject: TransformerException Hi Roy, Currently able to view index page and from there follow the "Sonoma Portal", "XML/XSLT Notes", "Soap and .Net" and "Java" links. Then view "My Projects", "Sonoma Portal Server", "Online XSurvey", "Coupon Banners". But for the IGallery link got exceptions. See below. javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: For extension function, could not find method java.lang.String.createDirectories([ExpressionContext,] #STRING, #STRING, #STRING, #NUMBER, #NUMBER). at org.apache.xalan.extensions.ExtensionHandlerJavaPackage.callFunction(ExtensionHandlerJavaPackage.java:395) <........cut out......> at com.hoobsoft.sonoma.myxml2.Transform(myxml2.java:87) at org.apache.jsp.index$jsp._jspService(index$jsp.java:242) <........cut out......> --------- java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: For extension function, could not find method java.lang.String.createDirectories([ExpressionContext,] #STRING, #STRING, #STRING, #NUMBER, #NUMBER). <........cut out......> at com.hoobsoft.sonoma.myxml2.Transform(myxml2.java:87) at org.apache.jsp.index$jsp._jspService(index$jsp.java:242) <........cut out......> When login is attempted "Error: Not found : /igallery/doLogin.jsp". This error OK. But the exceptions not OK. Do they ring any bells? Finally got configuration.jsp. Felt like kicking myself. Poor XSL could not find controlpanel.htm. When I put controlpanel.xsl, forms.xsl & editForm.xsl under sonomaEdit/ the other files were not there. Broke my head over TransformerConfigurationException. My directory structure is developing as <tomcat-dir> | /webapps/ | sonoma/ | calendar/ | edit/ | images/ | WEB-INF/ | sonomaXSL/ Additionally the sonoma classes, after compilation, were put into /WEB-INF/classes. Also have started using pageContext object to resolve paths. This is much better. You see, last year we had a bad experience when one client kept switching servlet containers (JO -> Resin -> Tomcat -> Tomcat + Apache). I want to get Sonoma set up properly before going in for anything else. So let me continue grinding..........Next priorities Calendar & IGallery. Maybe because I am using Xalan 2.0.1. Shall try changing it. Tomcat........don't die on me. Sebu. |

Hi, To use the other XSL templates, their may be some calls to the sonomaApp package. Some of these calls intern require SOAP. To use the Apps package, the full installation of Xalan must be installed, this contains most of the classes you need. It is at: http://xml.apache.org/dist/xalan-j/xalan-j_2_3_1-bin.zip. This should take care if the calendar and igallery classes. There are some calls to a tempClient class that uses SOAP. The Xalan distro might contain most of the SOAP classes as well minus the SOAP.jar file needed. It is at: http://xml.apache.org/axis/index.html. I have the Beta 1 version. Thanks, Roy Sorry for the slow response. I forgot to sign up for the list :) ------------------------------------------- Hi, When I finished the sonoma installation,I run the index.jsp through the Netscape, there is a error information that is could't find the class "com.ibm.bsf.util.BSFEngineImpl". Where can I find the class pakage. |

Hi Sebu, The way I have it setup here (I'm suprised the source follows this)... Under my Tomcat directory I have tomcat4/sonomaEdit tomcat4/sonomaXSL The sonomaEditor (mostly JSP pages) are in the first directory. and sonomaXSL (mostly XSL pages) are in the second. On the site, I've created a sym link called 'edit' that points to the sonomaEdit directory (this way sites can share the same editor). I can imagine that in the controlpanel.jsp page, it is looking for some controlpanel XSL files under /tomcat4/sonomaEdit/xsl/(controlpanel.xsl). That's my first thoughts. I'll look into and let you know if I find something else. I've actually been getting some work done on my task (adding sections and pages) that are in the same area. Hi, I'd like to mention, it might be easier to download and get the binaries running. In this package is the Xalan 2.3.1 files needed to run Sonoma. I don't believe these are in the source. A second note is that in the .war file in the binaries is an edit directory. This directory corresponds with the sonomaEditor directory in under the CVSRoot. On my system, I put these files, directly under tomcat (/java/tomcat4/sonomaEdit) and then symbolic link them under the web site as ./edit (this way more than one site can use the same editor). The main trick to get everything to work, should be modifying the web.xml file, make sure the paths are correct. Finally, The sonomaXSL should be on the same level as webapps (mine is /java/tomcat4/sonomaXSL). Thanks, Roy |

Hi Everyone, I've been pretty busy getting the Sonoma Project ready to go. I really appreciate everyone's interest in the project and hope we get off to a smooth start. Getting 4 more people on the project is great and I've closed the open positions. I know there is probably going to be problems we'll all have (setting up the software is one that comes to mind first). To be more effecient and save everyone time, I set up a sonoma-developers mailing list (cool, heh?). It is available at: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=50288. Let's use this to post questions, answers and notes between ourselves. Hopefully, other people just trying-out the software will get some good insights into the project. I agree to the notion, "there is no such thing a stupid question". If we have questions, I'm sure end users will also have similar questions. Please join up, at least to get emails from me. I'll probably be posting weekly. Responses to other emails might also show up on the list (anonymously of course), if it answers a specific question. Also everyone is on the team, posting a question here might get a faster (and better response) than just asking me. The last benefit is it will keep us all informed on the project status and we can learn from each other. Thanks, Roy |
