I had the same issue as this guy on the mailing list:

I'm using SOJO to serialize java objects - dates in particular. These values will be read by an web application that uses dojo toolkit. The problem is that SOJO detects repeated objects and replaces then by "~unique-id" tags, which isn't understood and parsed by Dojo.

The problem is SOJO is trying to identify repeated objects by their VALUE, not their IDENTITY. I have attached a patch which fixes this.
