Announcing the WAFFLE Bus Project
The eLearning Development Group at the University of Leeds announces the
WAFFLE Bus Project, an independent follow-on from the JISC ELF Toolkit
Project, SOCKET.
The goal of the WAFFLE Bus Project is to produce a demonstrator,
proof-of-concept implementation of a WAFFLE Bus, which is a
service-oriented learning architecture resulting from the fusion of the
Wide-Area Freely Federated Learning Environment (WAFFLE) and the
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).
The WAFFLE Bus will provide a delivery platform for JISC's e-framework
and will be characterized by its flexibility, configurability and
usability. The WAFFLE Bus will be able to act as a complete, enterprise,
service-oriented virtual learning environment for Higher Education that
facilitates collaborative, syndicated and federated approaches to
teaching and learning.
Alternatively, the WAFFLE Bus will offer a managed Web services gateway
for existing virtual learning environments originally conceived as
monolithic, non-service-oriented products.
