Hello,
I made my SnapScan e26 working with USB drivers
in Kernel 2.4.8, sane-1.0.5, and SnapScan v. 1.24
(current release from sourceforge).

a) configured USB modules; for module scanner
used options:
vendor=0x06bd product=0x2097

b) created /dev/usbscanner using
mknod /dev/usbscanner c 180 48

c) Added line about SnapScan e26 similar to
SnapScan e25 in snapscan.h and recompiled/installed

d) removed line about firmware from snapscan.conf

It seems to work fine.

I have also noticed, that while trying to use agfafirm,
it did not work. It seems that scanner already has
the newest firmware in it. If agfafirm forced to upload
firmware anyways, then scanner stopped communicating.
I did not try snapscan "in-house" firmware uploader.

    Hi,

I got another report from an e26 user who successfully uses
    snape26.bin as firmware file. See
    http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=473431&group_id=12742&atid=362742

What exactly happens if you use agfafirm?

BTW it has also been reported that BiLevelColour and LineArt
do not work for the e26. Can you confirm this?

    Regards,

    Oliver

    Hello,

    sorry for not answering sooner.

I have tried all resolutions and all modes; it seems
the only mode that did not work was bilevel. If I manage
to do that here, I will attach files with the same picture
in the same resolution in all modes (including bilevel).

I will also try to attach the file containing log from
what happened, when I tried to upload firmware.

OK, I did not manage to do that.

Please, let me know, how can I get files to you.
