alright so at various points we have talked about how SnapRAID can't tell if a VeraCrypt file was edited because it doesn't change the time on the file.

According to the FAQ in SnapRAID there is a way to enable timestamp updates. I was making a container and I do not see any such option.

    Anyone have any clues?

    EDIT:

Figured it out. It is not a container setting but a veracrypt prefernce setting. Go into veracrypt prefernces and you will see a box to uncheck.

Correct, the option is in truecrypt/veracrypt itself.

Keep in mind that changing "data" in snapraid puts at risk the correspoinding blocks from the other disks. This is especially bad if the data before change is unknown (like for example a previous version of a veracrypt container).

Most people are thinking that in case something breaks they can recover the version of the truecrypt container from when they run snapraid last time. YES, that is correct but the big problem would be if some OTHER disk fails and then some (possibly a lot) of files would be unrecoverable because snapraid relies on the old blocks from the container (and those don't exist anymore).
