I'm updating my Realtek drivers on my desktop and my laptop for a while now using SDI and haven't encountered any issues. Laptop's Lenovo LOQ. What I do is install the Realtek driver provided by the manufacturer and then simply updating it via SDI.

  • eL_PuSHeR eL_PuSHeR posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Hello. A little rant... SDI works quite well but due to MS crappy DCH implementation, it will probably fail 99% of the time while installing audio drivers on a clean installation. Your best bet is to install everything except audio drivers and let Windows Update install those.

Additional suggestion: If it is not possible to implement accessibility improvements directly in SDI itself, please consider creating an NVDA add-on or external accessibility module. This way, blind and low-vision users could benefit from better navigation and labeling without requiring major changes in the main application code. Even a simple add-on that exposes button labels, list items, and status messages to NVDA would make SDI much more usable. Thank you again for considering accessibility ...

  • mhmad mhmad posted a comment on discussion Suggestions

Additional note: Currently, about 10% of SDI interface is usable with NVDA screen reader. For example, some lists are read correctly, but buttons and status messages are not accessible. Environment: - NVDA version: 2025.1 - Windows version: Windows 11 Pro Suggestions: - Add proper labels to buttons and lists. - Ensure status messages are exposed as plain text. - Provide keyboard shortcuts for common actions. This would greatly improve accessibility for blind and low-vision users.

Forgive my naivete, I genuinely don't know much about sifting false positives in edge cases like this. Virustotal lists 23 of 72 antivirus vendors detecting the same file as a trojan - I ran the one from MSDN and it returned the same. That's quite a significant proportion, isn't it? What's the process now for ascertaining that it's safe, as opposed to a malicious file that simply escaped detection throughout the Windows 7 era and got signed?

  • Sam Bounce Sam Bounce posted a comment on discussion Bugreports

Hi, since some time, when I select Drivers it starts downloading all drivers (selected "only for this PC) Some drivers fail to install because I think they have to be installed in the right sequence. So after I installed the first driver, snappy starts downloading all drivers again. So it downloads around 1 GB every time I select a driver to install. I thought it saves the driver packages in its driver folder and only downloads updated drivers. I'm not sure if this was always this way but to me it...

I appreciate the program but I am curious as to why these huge driver files are retained after installation? Can't they just be deleted afterwards? In my case it is 45GB worth of files taking up HD space that to me don't really have any purpose once the install is done. I would assume any new downloads would be replacement updates for the ones already downloaded. What am I missing here? Thanks.

Some vendors intentionally distribute control panels only through the Windows Store or Windows Update.

  • eL_PuSHeR eL_PuSHeR posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

This buffles me. Sometimes when you install a touchpad driver, the control panel is missing. The same happens for some Realtek HD audio drivers. In the case of Realtek is because of crappy DCH implementation. For touchpads, I advise to install its proper driver via Windows Update first (if available). Sometimes it's the other way around: WU doesn't provide control panel but SDI does. Your mileage may vary.
