This note is to say that I will finally package this up and distribute under CPAN. The first release will be in the following weeks.

Work is now under way to port Snapper to Gtk2. The port should be simple and completed in a week or two.

A new Snapper release is now available. Also the baseline
SharkAPI release is finally available. This release is not
compatible with any previous releases. Large sections of the
API have been changed. All docs available through perldoc,
will be putting up HTML versions soon. The Gtk Pizza program
has been ported to the SharkAPI! Fire up "snaprun" and

The thin client "snaprun" now allows for a URL to be specified on the
command line. After installation you can now type:

% snaprun http://www.landsharklinux.com/pizza.xml

or from the source distribution directory:

% snaprun pizza.xml

If there is no URL specified then the graphical launcher will be displayed.

There have been several fixes and enhancements. Mostly documentation and little things. There is one major change, the sample program XML files are now installed in the (PREFIX)/share/snapper directory. The snaprun program will automatically have some URLs defined that point here.

Now after installation you can just type snaprun from the command line and select a URL.

Here is the latest Snapper release. It includes several fixes.

To test after installation just run "snaprun" and click OK, if you are connected to the internet then the pizza app should be loaded from the URL.

Also please note that there are no RPMs for this release. I upgraded to RedHat 8.0 and my spec file is out of whack...

The 1.6 release of Snapper is now complete. It includes many bug fixes. Fire up "snaprun" and type in the URL http://www.landsharklinux.com/pizza.xml to see the pizza app in action! This demo will blow your mind.

Release 1.5 represents a culmination of many efforts combined into a single release. First the SnapperIDE has now been converted to a Snapper application, and includes the Snapper Object Extension and Integration manager (snapoix) and the Snapper Data Dumper (snapdump). Second a graphical Snapper application launcher has been added, it is called snaprun. This program can, for instance, be added to Gnome menu, etc.... read more

A new utility program "snaputil" has been added to create new projects. This utility can be used to start a project, all of the directories and startup scripts, along with a simple glade file are created. RPMs will be up tomorrow.

The first production release of Snapper is available! Many bug fixes along with RPM builds are now available. After a very long blurry eyed weekend in Berkeley the Cygwin port is complete. I must say that getting Gnome to compile was like the old days of working until 2am on XTank!!! If anyone is interested I have also ported GtkPerl to Cygwin. I am currently working on patches, but please contact me at bill@landsharklinux.com for details, or a quick start. I am also back in the Bay Area! Snapper IDE has also been ported to Cygwin, and has RPM builds available.... read more

The first pre-release version of Snapper IDE is now available. I am currently building a product with it and will add and release functionality/fixes as I go along.
