So, after several days of agony with these controllers S7-1200 v4.1.1 and S7-1500 v1.7, we concluded that Snap7 does not support the new firmware above v3.0 for 1200 and v1.5 for 1500.
What can you say about this? Will there be support in the future, and if so , when?

Problem in Data R/W (( I'm using you clientdemo app, Catalog - OK, Unit Info - NO AVAILABLE, Communication Info- NOT AVAILABLE. Read/Write not working (
P.S. In S-1200 v2.2.0 - PDU length = 240, but in S-1200 v 4.4.1 PDU length = 480 Why ?

Hi Davide
I am running V1.8 firmware fine, with the obvious already documents missing BlockInfo functions etc not working, but reading writing to DB memory etc is fine (1517F3PN/DP)

Hello Davide, I'm greatly amazed by the quality of your job !
We too had problems with CPU (1512SP-1 PN) .
It had firmware V1.7, the ReadArea was not working correctly.
All usual "protection" settings on CPU and DB were set up as requested.
I also tried to debug in C++, but didn't understand what was wrong on the data returned in memory.
Maybe some sort of incorrect checksum ?
Looks like that after upgrading to firmware 1.8.2 it started to work correctly.
(I had to update firmware , switch off the CPU, and start power again)
Keep up and in touch !
Best Regards

Seems that firmware 1.7 has some issues...
Maybe you didn't notice, but most likely also HMI panels should have problems with that firmware, since they use S7Protocol like snap7.

can confirm the same behavior for an S7-1200 (6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0) with firmware 4.1.3 and (after updating to the currently available version) V4.2.0.
With the supplied Snap7 Client Demo on Ubuntu 14.04LTS and also Windows 7 Professional, the client app can only show the values 'Order Code' and 'Version' from the S7-1200. No unit info, no communication info, no db values...

What's the problem exactly ? Connection, Data R/W ?
To solve the problem I need to analyze the telegrams using wireshark but now I don't have CPUs with new firmware.
Yes, if there is a problem with the new firmware it is my intention to solve it ;)
In meantime, I know that many people is using Snap7 with S71200/1500 system, can someone check the firmware version ?

The PDU Length is negotiated, the CPU decides the size
If something is known by our question , please let us know. This is very important
Just updated the firmware of a S71500 CPU 1.1.0->1.8.2 and everything works fine...

Hi Davide
Do you also have such a kind of solution for S7-1212 firmware V4.1.1?
regards, John
Just tested Snap7 with S71200 with 4.1.6 firmware and works fine.

Hi Cem
As explained many times, the SZL implementation under S7Protocol of these CPU is partial.
This is reported also into the manual and here:
http://snap7.sourceforge.net/snap7_client.html#target_compatibility
Please next time open a new thread, don't append to this (moreover the section is wrong since this is not a bug)
Hello Davide,
OK, as you pointed out,i had used PG instead of S7 Basic. Now, all works fine. Sorry for the circumstance and thank you very much for your effort!
Kind regards
