Enabling an incompatible setting during playback can cause mplayer to crash. Some settings are only changeable during playback, and so you enter a catch-22 situation.

Example: using S/PDIF passthrough (hwac3), if you switch on time scaling using [ or ], mplayer crashes, but SMPlayer stores the time-scaling change, and so every time you open that file, mplayer crashes immediately (before you can reset time scaling).

Although there is a workaround for this particular case (disable passthrough, reset scaling, re-enable passthrough), perhaps SMPlayer should wait a few seconds before saving per-file settings to make sure it doesn't save an unusable state.

Alternatively, add an option to the view info window to reset all saved file settings?

    Moved to "feature requests".

There's no such option, but there's a workaround when you find this problem: just disable the option "Remember settings for all files" in Preferences->General and open the file again.

Then you can enable again "Remember settings for all files".
