I've some movies with idx/sub subtitles. When using smplayer I always see the message "subtitles: disabled" when I play one of this movies. The strange thing is that I can see subtitles when running mplayer manually.
As an example I tried to play a movie called CD1.avi, and in the same directory there are CD1.idx and CD1.sub files. I run smplayer, load the file and subs doesn't work. Now I press "CTRL + M", I copy the first four lines and paste them in a cmd prompt. I remove the "-wid" option and when I this run this command the subtitles are displayed correctly !!!
(tested under windows xp sp2).

This is the output from "CTRL + M":

C:/Programmi/smplayer/mplayer/mplayer.exe -noquiet -nofs -sub-fuzziness 1 -identify -slave -vo directx -ao dsound -zoom -nokeepaspect -priority abovenormal -wid 1770248 -colorkey 131586 -monitoraspect 1.6 -subfont-autoscale 1 -subfont-text-scale 5 -subcp ISO-8859-1 -subpos 100 -contrast 0 -hue 0 -saturation 0 -cache 2000 -osdlevel 1 X:/CD1.avi

    Hi.

idx/sub subtitles are not well supported by smplayer. These subtitles are not autodetected yet, so smplayer thinks there are no subtitles, that's why it shows "subtitles: disabled".

You have to select the option Subtitles->Load and choose the idx file. Now the subtitles should work (even although in Subtitles->Select doesn't appear any).

There's still a problem, if the subtitles file contains subtitles for more than a language, the only way to choose the language is by passing the option -vobsubid to mplayer.

As I said support for this kind of subtitles is very poor for now.

I think version 0.3.36 has better support for idx/sub subtitles.
Could you test if now it works better?
