MPlayer Redxii-SVN-r37448-4.9.3 (x86_64) is contained in the portable SMPlayer 15.11 release version. This MPlayer does not know what CALf is, of course it should be fLAC. After that MPlayer error SMPlayer 15.11 does not detect that something is wrong and waits for new instructions / better times.
I tested SMPlayer 14.9.0.0 with mplayer-svn-37370-x86_64, that worked as it should. Then I copied this old MPlayer to SMPlayer 15.11, still no problems. Finally I tested the old and the new SMPlayer with the latest and greatest mplayer-svn-37569-x86_64, also okay.
The redxii-unstable directory has r37569 included, I think it might be a good candidate for inclusion the next version.
ACK, or in other words, the Mplayer in SMplayer 16.1 is still an old broken Redxii-SVN-r37448-4.9.3 (x86_64) vintage 2015-08-16 01:39:50 EDT refusing to play CALf when confronted with a fLAC. The good version also working with SMPlayer 16.1 is Redxii-SVN-r37569-4.9.3 (x86_64) 2015-12-23 22:26:25 EST.
Version 16.1 includes the same version of mplayer than 15.11, however the development packages include a new one.
