Noticed that when i press the rewind1 or forward1 keys, that the time slider jumps to the beginning point of the timeline and the seek time turns into 00:00:-9, as can be seen in the attachment.
It would helpful to have the log.
Try this: open the video, use the rewind or forward keys until the problem happens, and then go to options -> logs -> smplayer and send the log.
i guess i wasnt fully clear with my explanation. when the slider jumps to the beginning, it then jumps back to where it was originally supposed to jump to. This causes seeking to be jerky. Here is the log.
This is a problem that I can't reproduce at all (and the log doesn't show any warning or anything strange). But I saw you're using mplayer2.
Can you test if the problem happens with mplayer too?
i tested this on mplayer and it doesnt have the same problem and the seeking is alot smoother. the mplayer2 version i was running was the one from precise (2.0-426-gc32b3ed-2ubuntu0.1). I tested the version with quantal (2.0-554-gf63dbad-1_i386) and it didnt have the same visual issues with the slider and seek time, but the seeking was similarly slow. unfortunately i wasnt able to test the raring and saucy versions of mplayer2. are their any benefits of mplayer2 over mplayer that i should stick with mplayer2.
Tested this again on Linux Mint 17.1 and it works fine with mplayer2, so i guess this ticket can be closed.
