It's been brought to Lawrence and my attention that there is a 2k difference in filesizes in some of the 0.9.5LF ISO images. This is due to us being rushed in mid-October when we produced the 0.9.5LF ISO image for FutureNet publishing in the United Kingdom. It does NOT affect the install image and you can still produce a perfectly good SmoothWall CD (in fact there are 60,000 of them out on LF covers all over Europe).
The ISO image, smoothwall-0.9.5LF.iso is truncated by 2K from the
original. [ might want to put something about the cause? ]. This was not picked up in testing because the 2K of data that is missing is not
critical and SmoothWall will still install perfectly.
The problem that this truncation causes however is that one file, src/smoothwall-programs-0.9.5LF.tar.gz is truncated and incomplete.
A useable copy of this file has been added to the SmoothWall project listing for download by people who require this file.
Once again, this missing data does not cause any problems when installing SmoothWall, as the thousands of installs that people have made with 0.9.5LF demonstrates.
0.9.6 is weeks away, we hope to have a new look and feel to the web management console and some added niceties. We move towards testing FreeSWAN and cable modem/ISDN support and we are grateful to the new members of the SmoothWall development team headed by our US Development Manager Eric J.
We will be appointing a comms team who will have responsibility to head up cable modem and DSL support and this will be echoed both in the UK and North America with resources provided by myself, Lawrence and Eric.
Thanks again for all your support, we hope to get 0.9.6 tested and uploaded via SourceForge and our mirrors by the 15th December 2000. With the VPN work being our focus for January / February with multiple ethernet support being released hopefully around the same time.
Any more offers of support please do contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will endeavour to get back to you.
