#5 Unexpected EOF error during file extraction

When I attempt to open sme-3.2.74.tar.gz (downloaded
from SourceForce) I get an “expected EOF error”
message. This is the case with both Linux (using tar
utility) and Windows (with WinZip). I am suspicious that
this is causing subsequent compilation errors during
software installation. Has anyone else had problems
extracting files?
