I should have reportd, that I've checked in all the sources to smm doc last week.
smmdoc includes a program, which will turn "lib-files" into the smm manual and the "lib-files" themself.
The "lib-files" are in priciple html files. Just have a look in one of them an dyou'll realize quickly. A documentation is provided as well.
ahh,.. btw: the lib-files are the files, that contain the content of the smm manual.
smmdoc is attach a header, a footer and eventually a navigation bar, when producing the smm manual.
It will also produce the downloadable .zip's, .gz's and the ps-documentation; but this works only on linux right now.
