After a long interlude, I've started working on the Standard ML SourceForge project. I've created an initial web page (/home/groups/sml/htdocs/index.html) and created a "test" directory in the CVS archive (cvs.SML.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/sml/test). I intend to import the SML/NJ test suites as test/smlnj in the repository, and I hope other implementations will add their test suites, after which we can work toward an integrated Standard ML 97 test suite. I believe all project members have read and write access to the CVS repository. I am not sure about permissions for adding and modifying the web pages. If you want to be added to the project membership, you need to register with sourceforge and send me your sourceforge login name. There are a number of tasks to be addressed: 1. I'd like to have additional administrators (perhaps at least one from each implementation group?). The main power of a project administrator seems to be managing (adding/deleting) users, and administering the mailing lists. To promote users to administrators I have to send mail to the sourceforge administrators. Any volunteers? 2. I'd like to get the standardml.org domain name hosted by sourceforge. I haven't figured out how to do this yet. 3. I plan to expand on the web pages, with at least a list of links to the web pages of all Standard ML implementations. Eventually, I hope to have a fairly comprehensive SML software catalog at this site. 4. We need to plan the contents of the CVS repository. At the moment, the only directory is the test directory, which should initially be populated by a collection of implementation test suites. Later, an integrated, implementation independent test suite should emerge. Other directories could hold "portable" software packages (libraries, etc.) that have been certified to run on multiple (all?) implementations. 5. We need to check and revise the mailing list subscribers. By the way, the archiving of the sml-implementers list seems to be working now (it was initially broken). Below I've attached a file with the project and mailing list info.
