Its been fun busting away on this, but I'm a little knackered and I'm going to take a 3-day weekend and then hit it hard again. I've plugged Smee into one of our products here at work and early feedback has been very positive. When it comes to the extension language, the documentation simply describes the host objects (there is only one in addition to the in-built ECMAScript objects) and says that it is standard ECMAScript/JavaScript. I gave a preview copy to a consultant in France and he came back with a completed application with no questions asked. Previous experience with a Smalltalk based extension language and lots of documentation explaining it was very different. A curious side-effect has been a tendency to want to solve every problem by allowing configuration options to be scripts. We are trying to find a way to strike a balance here. -david |
