the project is still coming, i promise... i just haven't gotten my Visual Studio workstation back up yet. I'll have to start back over from the cefalu platform.
I may have to start completely again with the program (or at least from the cefalu platform) because my workstation computer which runs Win98 has taken a virus and is probably gonna have to be cleaned out and everything reinstalled... this means that there's an indefinite suspension of smb2trans development. Sorry it had to happen this way, I really wanted to have it out by the New Year but things just didnt work out. My guess would be a release sometime in early Q2 2003, to take into account the rewrites and such from 0.9.0 to beta 1. i hate computers :-P
I'm having serious security issues with my Win98 computer that i use to develop smb2trans, and I dont want to take the time to hand-block 10000 ports, so I downloaded zone alarm. it didnt work, so im waiting on a reply from their tech support people within 3-4 working days. This is keeping me from developing and compiling smb2trans beta 1.
Also I am still having problems with the Super Mario All Stars compatibility, but this shouldn't take too long to resolve, as I am almost done rewriting it. Expect the beta release by 2003.
The first beta of smb2trans has not been released yet, and it was supposed to be out last weekend. I apologize for this, as I waited on the splash screen to be finished before I began work on finishing up the app, and there was a lot more work to be done than I had previously thought.
Several of the components have been completely rewritten, and most of the ones that haven't are different in some way. This has been a long time coming. Also, Super Maio All Stars compatibility is almost complete... this is what i'm working on at the moment and it should be finished by tonight. Hopefully v1.0.0 beta 1 will be released tonight, and if its not it will for sure be out by tomorrow.
The projected release of v1.0.0 is now the 5th or 6th of january.
version 0.9.0 of the SMB2 Transmogrificator has been released, along with the "cefalu" code base for the 0.9.x branch. this is the last major release of smb2trans before 1.0b1 so this is probably the final major feature release. You'll notice that the UI has improved considerably since 0.8.0 and that the application loads faster than it previously was capable of doing. The "cefalu" code release has many improvements in the ROM interaction code and the enemy labeling database.
watch for the release of smb2trans v0.9.0 this weekend... I've been hard at work getting this ready so yes, it will happen this weekend, probably friday or saturday. Also next weekend will mark the release of smb2trans beta 1 which is what many of us have been waiting for since this summer. Exciting times for the smb2 transmogrificator project!
Yes, the first entirely non-nerdSoft version of smb2trans is out. in keeping with the Italian theme, this release is codenamed "siracusa" and the next release will be "cefalu". also there are some speed optimizations in this version, but the main thing this release is the nerdSoft removal.
The home page for this project is now online... you can find it at http://smb2trans.sf.net/ and it will be updated soon with new information.
Also, v0.8.0 of the program and source will be released tonight. The main feature of this release will be the removal of all nerdSoft references from the code and interface. Also look for speed improvements and more streamlined components.
version 0.7.1 of the SMB2 Transmogrificator has been released. See the release notes for info about this release. The source code will follow later tonight.
nerdSoft Computer Application's SMB2 Level Editor, The SMB2 Transmogrificator, is now OSS. The project website will be up shortly. The source and v0.8.0 will be released within a week.
