I installed smartpop, put the folder directly under the C: directory (so I see this C:\smartpop> when I'm ready to go).
    I enter "smartpop -p 200 -t 500 -nsimu 1000" and I get the message
"ERROR in the input file for parameters unknown inputsizePerX"
Now I know the manual says we are supposed to alter this file, so I erased the last bit with the random input number.
That didn't work. Then, on a whim, I erased the "per" in inputsizePerX (since I saw it was just inputsizeX somewhere). I did that, and also erased the "per" in inputsizePerY, and it seems to be running now...
Am I missing something? Is this common C++ coding stuff that I just don't know? I can't seem to find straightforward directions in the manual, regarding this.
I am running Smartpop on a Dell laptop, Windows 7.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the comment
It sounds like that was a mistake in a the added parameter file, as said in the manual it should be sizeX and sizeA.
The downloadable version has been updated.
I strongly recommend to use SMARTPOP on a UNIX system however, its preformance are significantly better.

Thanks for your reply! I don't have access to UNIX system right now. But as I learn how to use it, I will apply for computing access and resources at my University.
      thank you!

OK, this is anon poster from before (Mike). Now I got it running, at least. I am trying to output to Arlequin file, but can't seem to...
...OK, never mind, got Arlequin file output! OK, just reading the manual over and over, and especially reading the table of default parameters very carefully, is helping! :)

Feel free to post or email me suggestion in term in terms of what documentation could be helpful.
