[Please continue to CC the mailing list] What's going wrong is interesting. An extra 62 bytes of garbage is getting inserted into the data structures returned from the kernel. Have you built the code from source yourself from a tarball? Or are you using a pre-compiled binary? If you are using a precompiled binary, I suggest you try recompiling it yourself on the machine you are working on. Can you try compiling 5.32 from source using just: export CFLAGS=-g ./configure make without all of the compilation flags that you are currently using? Also, have you seen this bug with multiple kernels or just with your current kernel? Bruce |

I agree with your inclination that it's a hardware/kernel problem -- but something so severe should cause your computer to simply lock up, so I'm surprised that the box even runs. Try running memtest86 and looking for memory problems. Cheers, Bruce |

If I get additional problem reports that look similar to this, I'll look into it. But for the moment I have absolutely no idea what the problem is, or how the box can work at all with that level of corruption of data coming from the kernel ide drivers! Bruce |

yeah. it was mother-board problem, after changing to a different one everything worked ok. i wonder if it is design failure or just damaged hardware.. those pc-chips mb's are really cheap ones.. anyway, problem solved. :) |
