I'm a windows GUI interface developer... Would there be any interest in making a dedicated Windows interface... Does it have to be cross-platform? Perhaps separate interfaces for different each type of OS. >> When's the GUI going to be available? :-) >As soon as someone offers to write and maintain an open-source, >cross-platform one. Though I have done almost no GUI work, my understanding is that there are good cross-platform GUI tools available. (Of course if you don't think this is reasonable, smartmontools is open-source and you can always develop a platform-specific GUI and distribute it independently. But there are a lot of advantages to maintaining a single toolset, so if you are interested in persuing this, I'd encourage you to look into cross-platform GUI development tools.) Please, let us know if you are interested in working on this. Cheers, Bruce |

For posix systems the already discussed socket interface might be easiest. We could then modify smartds conf from the GUI and maybe even write out the updated configuration. -- Guido |
