Hi, I tried to list SMART info of a CF Transcend TS16GCF150 industrial on a LogiLink CR0035 USB2.0 Card Reader w/ 6-Port Hub PCB, top side (card reader): Bus 003 Device 037: ID 058f:6364 Alcor Micro Corp. AU6477 Card Reader Controller AU6477CL CCC706-11 1153T1858 PCB features this label: 4BC020FE21000 PCB, bottom side (USB hub): Bus 003 Device 036: ID 1a40:0201 Terminus Technology Inc. FE 2.1 7-port Hub FE2.1 USB 2.0 HUB L03T788A2511 However, I couldn't make SMART readout of TS16GCF150 on AU6477CL work, no matter what. Still no SAT support in today's chipsets?? Not happy. Interestingly, the CF vendor/product differs from the one shown with the -d scsi in the multi card reader USB hub above (possibly the card reader firmware skews things here). I also did the usual update-smart-drivedb dance (...taken from 5.41 trunk), but that did not improve detection ("Not in smartctl database"). -P showall does list an entry for the non-industrial ...GCF133 cards, though. ******************** So, I'd say that for TS16GCF150 and similar cards, the database can now be updated to supply -T permissive -s on. (BTW I just added an entry to device support wiki page, too) One more puzzle solved :) ******************** And I'll work on the Alcor Micro puzzle, since I'd really want to have SMART readout on my router... any thoughts on that one? I created a detailed (yet suitable) inquiry on Alcor Micro website about SAT pass-through support info of AU6477CL (or related chipsets), but there was no reply, thus one month later I created another request, where I did not receive a reply either (about one month passed). So, reading between the (non-existing) lines, one could infer that either it's obvious that the chipset does not support SAT for its CF parts [and/]or nobody felt sufficiently tickled to reply, thus one could say that currently it appears to be a good idea to prefer acquisition of adapters with chipsets other than Alcor Micro AU6477CL, since its support quality remains unclear. Somewhat sad that now I've got a card reader + hub combo intended for a larger non-stop operation setup where I need to shut everything down each time I want to inquire health data of the boot device (with the help of a successfully SMART-transparent PCMCIA CF adapter).
