I have few questions here and I'm using debian 4.
1. My smartmontools or smartd won't start automatically unless I manually
started the service. How do I start the smartd service automatically?
2. I wanted a email warning message sent to me whenever the hard disk is almost
failing. I've set the configuration in /etc/smartd.conf with DEVICESCAN -m root
-M exec /usr/share/smartmontools/smartd-runner. However, it does not start and
no mail being sent to me. Can you please help me with this?
3. For your info, this is my scan result

Edit /etc/default/smartmontools and change:

How do you know it does not send email? Have you experienced a drive
failure? Normally no mail is sent.
Try adding "-M test" to the command line, which causes smartd to send a
test email every time it starts.
