Hi, I read your howto and tried to fix a disk. When I got to the sector
part and finding a file, it wouldn't find a file associated with the
block. So rather than writing zeros to the sector, I decided to read
what it was, here is what I got:
[root@... ~]# file foo1
foo1: Linux rev 1.0 ext3 filesystem data (needs journal recovery)
I take it that is why it didn't find a file associated with the block,
it is part of the journal. Now what? disable the journal, write zeros t
the sector then bring it back to ext3? I keep getting notes on the
sector being bad, though they aren't the file system errors. Maybe I
should just leave it alone?
