Dear smartmontools users, due to recent changes at sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/blog/sourceforge-project-e-mail-policy-update/ we decided to move the mailing lists to another host[1]. Please subscribe to the new lists here: Announcement mailing list https://listi.jpberlin.de/mailman/listinfo/smartmontools-announce Support, discussion, bug report and suggestion mailing list https://listi.jpberlin.de/mailman/listinfo/smartmontools-support List for contributions of info about drives that are not yet in smartmontools drive db https://listi.jpberlin.de/mailman/listinfo/smartmontools-database Unfortunately it is not possible for us to export and move the old mailing list archives to the new location due to the restricted admin privileges at sourceforge. Sourceforge support told us that they also cannot hand over a copy "as it would be a violation of the laws we made these changes to comply with to release any subscriber information." So you have to search on two places for a while until the old messages can be classified as outdated. Find links to our archives on the web in the wiki: https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/Help#Mailinglist So far the info and see you on the new lists! Cheers, Gabriele [1] Many thanks to jpberlin (https://www.jpberlin.de/) who offer free service, complete list administration access and mailing list archives for our Free Software Project :-) -- Smartmontools developer team https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/Team |

Hello, I noticed today that my SSD is not listed in the device database, even after updating the device list manually using the command listed to update it. I also read through the devices .h file looking for my device and couldn't find it there either. Here's the device I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXDQX35 https://www.wdc.com/products/solid-state-drives/wd-blue-ssd.html It's a 250GB WD Blue SSD, WDC WDS250G1B0A-00H9H0 Attached find the relevant short self-test details in the requested format, as well as a normal output of "smartctl -a", with some curious entries titled "Unknwon_Attribute" that I couldn't find any information on at the WD specific page on your wiki. If more details about the device would be helpful, I'm willing to submit more information, just specify what would be helpful. I'm running Arch if that helps. Hope this is of help, Jared D. |

249 is the number of gigabytes written to NAND. No references found, I just guessed it from another DB entry with the same number and the value's dynamic when testing a brand-new drive (it went from 0 to 3, then to 5 when I performed yet another write test that writes ~1GiB of data). Last but not the least, drivedb.h parser in Smartctl 6.5 turns out to ignore the lines that have the // comment, even if it's not the first token in the line. That's why there are so many unknown attributes in the output. I reported it at https://www.smartmontools.org/ticket/854 . -- -- With best regards, Ivan Pozdeev |
