[smartmontools-support] What does "aborted by host" mean?

Hi:

I'm having trouble with a disk running extended offline (-t long) that 
always ends up "aborted by host" at maybe 70% remaining.  On the other 
hand, short test (-t short) finishes OK, and Seatools runs the long DST 
OK.

I've been searching the archives and can't find a definition of what 
"aborted by host" means or what causes it.
