I just used your howto at http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/badblockhowto.html to sort out some bad blocks on my hard drive. Extremely helpful! One thing I noticed, you mention the use of debugfs to find the inodes for certain blocks in three steps: debugfs: icheck 3778301 Block Inode number 3778301 45192 debugfs: icheck 3778302 Block Inode number 3778302 45192 debugfs: icheck 3778303 Block Inode number 3778303 45192 This can be done with one call: debugfs: icheck 3778301 3778302 3778303 which can be very useful if there are 10's of bad blocks in a row. Thanks for the brilliant page. Regards, Danie |
